Pieter Kark, M.D Organizational Consultant and Coach

Pieter creates consensus from conflicts and inspires aligned, high-performance teams. He coaches key people to polish interpersonal skills so they themselves can inspire others to succeed. He senses the underlying nature of problems and potential resolutions. He motivates alignment and success. He inspires people of many backgrounds, cultures, and positions to tackle thorny problems and turn them around quickly and ably. His consulting and coaching are differentiated from others in organizational leadership and executive coaching in several ways: by his being trained in medicine, neurology and psychiatry; by his experience with organizational leadership and coaching interpersonal skills for more than 30 years, by his practicing and teaching several aspects of medicine; and by his applying these skills in work with volunteer organizations.

His background is research in medicine, science, and ethics; the practice and teaching of medicine with neurology, psychiatry, medical ethics, and end-of-life care; work in health care policy, and advocacy for patients’ needs. His clinical research toxicity; effects of diets and medications on diseases of the nervous system and muscle; Phase IV studies of medicines for neurological diseases, and medical ethics. His laboratory work included biochemical studies, enzyme assays purifying enzymes several hundred fold and developing monoclonal antibodies against them; how nerves affect enzyme activities of mitochondria, and toxicology.

Later, he created consensus from conflict to improve laws and regulations in NY State, advocated to improve damage from “managed care” on patients’ needs, mentored in a national leadership and advocacy program, trained healthcare professionals to interact compassionately and effectively with dying patients and their families and to train colleagues to do this; and coached colleagues, healthcare personnel and patients’ families so each dying patient could have the quality of life (s)he wanted.

Since completing medical work and moving to California, Pieter has continued to resolve conflicts, align groups into high-performance teams, and to coach interpersonal skills with volunteer and for-profit entities here. By combining his business, organizational, strategic planning and life skills, he delivers practical solutions and processes.

He understands how we process information, the many intricacies of the nervous system, and the role of consciousness our lives. Active listening and analysis benefit business executives, government officials and non-profit leaders.
